Los Angles National Forest is becoming like this. POS People are destroying our camp grounds, bring city to the remote mountains is what they consider fun time. No respect.
Hide & Seek in large drive in Warehouse would neat secret campground In cities Zone.....rural
We are campers doings it in different ways is a great way to defend this activity. I started the outdoor experience with a girlfriend 45 years ago in New Mexico. Then went to single tent camping in Virginia then a very basic popup with friends because it was less work to set up. I then moved up to a small class C for trips because of having 2 kids. Now we have an entry level travel trailer to boondock in because age and wear and tear have taken it's toll. Are we camping or RVing. Yes to both. I can say I can see both perspectives. So we are now roughing it smoothly.
Thanks for the reminder about fireworks. Our dogs are terrified off fireworks so we take them camping to get away from the war zone our city becomes.
I enjoy these updates. I take issue with the supposition that the mattresses in RVs are just there to show the customer how a mattress will look in the rv. That seems ridiculous and just a way to plug the sponsor's product.
Oh no...a major RV manufacturer literally told me that. Some of the mattresses they put in cost them less than $10 each. They considered just not putting them in, but dealers want them to be there. It's staging. Not all brands, but most of the mass market brands.
On a more humorous note, I've heard people say, "I'm going to set up camp right here." As the unfold their camp chair and set down their cooler at an outdoor concert!
You can qualify the term "Camping" such as "Tent Camping", "RV Camping", "Glamping", etc., when addressing a specific type of Camping. But I agree. The term Camping, itself, should include all forms of temporarily residing in an area (not necessarily Nature, and not necessarily in a shelter) not designed for permanent occupation.
Thank you. 🎶🌈
There are a lot of dispersed camping areas in the Appalachians that have been closed or restricted due to messes left by campers. Just sad people think is more important to be slobs than to protect the land.
Closures are complete BS. BLM does the same thing in California. If they can’t enforce 14 days how do they enforce 1? If too many people are speeding government going to take my car? It’s called enforcement. Lazy solution!
BLMs biggest issue is they have 1 law enforcement ranger for every million acres of land. Or put another way, they're policing 1/8th of the entire US landmass with a force smaller than the town of Rockford, IL.
lol talk ram owners after year.
Especially when the paint starts to come off.
Great information about the things going on in different states. Wow. Gigi is an interesting character. Happy 4th of July, and yes people, please don't bring fireworks to campgrounds!! - Michelle
If you are full time RVer you better plan on an RV park or buy your own land zoned for an RV as eventually free boondocking is going to disappear. Way too much damage and waste happening on federal lands.
I see a near future where dispersed camping is banned……waay too many irresponsible people being out in the forests now. I was camping near Poncha Springs, CO. A family came and camped VERY near to me for only one night……Brought their 4wheelers and tore up the wet roads, left their campfire still smoldering, and threw food all around even though I told them I had seen a bear coming towards my campsite a couple of days before. It really pissed me off……they broke every camping rule. They also shit right next to their campsite, didn’t bury it…..truly gross, irresponsible behavior
your story reminds me of an experience I had in a cabin in North carolina. The neighbors did some similar things and it ruined it for us. they stayed one night nearly burned the woods down.
@@tennesseeterri it made me not want to stay in that spot any longer….in case they came back or someone else came and behaved the same way or worse
As a North Dakotan that spent most summers at Lake Metigoshe, you got it mostly right…
We are a Boondockers Welcome host site on a dead end dirt road in the country (but close to several smaller cities) where folks don’t tend to stick their noses in other peoples’ business. That said, we do not charge for anything (the BW program doesn’t allow this anyway) and we do not accept donations of any kind. We are not running a business and so we do not want money, or anything of value, changing hands. I want to make sure I can tell our township or county, with a straight face, that we are not running a business, should it ever come up. On the other hand, we are under no obligation to offer RVers a place to spend the night (up to 5), so very easy for us to just stop doing so if it comes to that.
Good info. Thanks
Anyone else notice which vehicle Jason drove to work on filming day? Would be really cool to rent some unique vehicles and park them in that spot to see who notices ◡̈
Hah! I often park my truck (or car) there, but this happens to be someone else's. I only wish I owned an F350 limited!
@@RVMiles That's what I'm going for - a game within each video!
Always great content and info Jason! Now that my wife and I have done some extended camping around the country, it's fun to hear of somewhere that you have news about and we both look at each other and exclaim "we've been there!" Love Army Corp and small state campgrounds even in our "large" GD 313RLTS @ 37-'4" ! Yes, Lewis and Clarke is a beautiful campground in ND.
Good information
Great video and outstanding perspective. All the best.
Thanks, you too!
I am diggin this vibe
And please don't bring fireworks to campgrounds. There is firewood, propane tanks, and even cloth tents and canopies everywhere.
We full timed for years. One of the things we saw was the steady degradation of the BLM lands as well as state and federal parks. People are pigs.We saw Walmarts closing their lots to campers and towns passing ordinances against overnighting because of nomads' behavior. People keep trying to blame a few bad apples. But from what we saw, it was way more than a few
Thanks Abby and Jason.
Very welcome!
Hey Man, maybe when you talk about an issue in a state and highlight that state, you could highlight the specific area in that state? Just a thought...
Most of the half ton trucks for a while now have good towing capabilities. What they don't have, especially in the popular crew cabs, is cargo capabilities that can handle the tongue weight of the longer bumper pull trailers. My current f150 has plenty of towing capacity for our trailer, but the tongue weight blows past its cargo capacity.
You got the wrong F150, they go up to 2,450 pounds payload even with the HDPP gone, enough for pretty much any bumper pull that's not a 2 story destination trailer.
So disappointing that folks abuse our parks. My husband and I hiked part of the North Country Trail and found a fire ring full of trash at a campsite. Why?
Just get a SoftStartUp to plug in between your generator and trailer. It then can also be used for items besides just the air conditioner. We also use it on 30 amp plug, to run the air conditioner with our Bluetti AC200 Max.
Doesn't work for motorhomes where you have auto transfer switches determining whether to use shore, generator or inverter as the AC power source.
"ruled 6 - 3 along party lines" not how the supreme court was supposed to work.
Since this very corrupt court gave Biden so much power, too,(while he’s in office)…..he should make it an “official act” to rid us of the two extremely corrupt, politicized judges….namely, Alito and Thomas. That would be Justice served
Long-term camping activities= homeless. Our economy is doing greeeeat!
Is that foam on the exterior of the truma AC?....
That RAM "quality survey" is such complete bullish*t! How can you compare RAM trucks only, to every vehicle that Chevy makes, and every vehicle that Ford makes? It's only a "big win" for RAM if you don't understand that this IS NOT a direct comparison between Ram Trucks, Chevy Trucks, and Ford Trucks. Yet RAM will have no problem misleading people into believe that this is actually a direct comparison with Chevy and Ford trucks.
long term camping aka homeless
You said Metigoshe correctly.
Great info. as ALWAYS! THKS
I went to Band Camp. It wasnt real camping. !
Great Information. I am new to this channel. enjoyed it. thanks.
Welcome!
Sounds like Lemonis and that lady in Fla and two of the same kind. both crooked
Yep! Crooks hate being robbed even more than honest people hate being robbed.
So, they make the good people suffer due to the bad people, on tax payer funded property. Mush easier to tack the tax $ and use it for, well, not the tax payer. this is some bullshit
Air conditioners for RVs are stuck in the 1970s. Just recently the first inverter unit became available. But only in the aftermarket
Which? Is it a heat pump?
@@andrewfidel2220it’s made by Furrion. It’s called the Chill Cube. I do believe some OEM’s are going to start including them standard.
Thanks Jason! Loved the great wrapup!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Anyone who is pro Non-Recreational camping, are more than welcome to open their own private property to long term Non-Recreational camping.
👍👏
As always. Great information. Great insight.
Much appreciated!
Jason, you are spot on with how laws are written and I’m sad to say I believe they are written to be interpreted in so many ways so the government can do as they please.
JD Power is ultimately a marketing company and their quality surveys should not be used for news. Their surveys are made for advertising.
Exactly!👏
Closer to the city always get abused. So homeless people are now illegal? So you can’t stay overnight in a Walmart or Cracker Barrel because government? Maybe we need some less government and some more freedom. Don’t forget to close La Posa in the winter 🤦🏼
I used to be the biggest fan of Van life. But I've watched all the places disappear over the last 15 years. I wanted to do it, but I'm glad I didn't because I wanted to do it long-term but it can't happen now.
Sure you can. Get a lift and all terrain tires and go deep
@eladsgarr 15 years ago, the whole country was wide open when I started watching it. You could camp in any city and park in Residential areas. You could park in any town anywhere. You're never paid to sleep anywhere and you didn't need to lift kit In order. To go deep the whole country was your back door and cops didn't touch you all.
@@AB-tc8lx you look at things a little differently than I do. I’m retired law enforcement (28 years). I do my best to avoid cities and people. I’ve been full time for close to three and a half years and will never understand the desire to overnight on city streets or in any type of parking lot. To each their own. I’d just as soon not have people that can’t respect our public lands stay in the city with the filth and garbage they created there as opposed to bringing it to the wilderness. But every year in the short time I’ve been doing this I watch it grow worse and I believe because of that ruling it’s going to get exponentially worse at a much faster rate. At least on the outskirts of most wilderness area as a large majority of these people don’t have the wherewithal to live and survive too deep in the woods, mountains, and deserts. Especially in weather extremes.
@eladsgarr You have to go into cities to do laundry pick up packages and do grocery shopping a lot of times if you're doing a lot of stuff like that. You may want to spend the night in a city. I agree that you want to be out in our beautiful country. But there are times when you may need mechanics or Stop at Lowe's and do a little wood working in your Van. And you may want to spend a night or 2 every other week in the city and not be harassed by the cops. I used to love it when van dwellers who had a really good stealth vad would go to Yellowstone for a whole week. And find a nook or a cranny every night and not pay a dime.
Unfortunately the problem that has arisen is that too many people in America want to live for free. City streets, public parking lots, city parks, etc., all have to be PAID for by someone. The locals whose taxes dollars pay for these places, don't want people from out of state coming in, not paying taxes, not paying for parking, and not paying the local campground. I'm sorry to disappoint so many people, but America was not built by Vagabonds and Nomads. The reason that we have all of these beautiful places in this country is because of the people who put in the work to build it. Sorry but "Van Life" does very little to contribute to the betterment of society.
As a citizen of Grants Pass, and familiar with the law that the Supreme Court found in favor of Grants Pass, I can state that it has nothing to do with overnight camping at a Walmart or any other private entity. So the likely effect will, at worst, have no effect and, at best, actually allow for better clean up and less crime in Walmart and other parking lots such as BiMart, where my wife works
It's one of hundreds of laws though. I've read dozens of them, and many are concerning.
@@RVMiles I would rather deal with the effects of laws that are maybe too strict than continue to deal with campgrounds and parking lots becoming homeless encampments.
Metigoshe, you pronounced it perfectly 😎. Great state park, not too far from the International Peace Garden.
